Day 4 - a few days later...

It's been a few days since the op now and I'm definitely feeling more positive. I've had a few visitors, got dressed and moved downstairs!
I still feel very off-balance and like everything is tilted to the side - sometimes it feels a bit boat-like. It's worse when I close my eyes and I feel like I'm moving or everything else is swirling around me. It means that I'm finding it difficult to sleep at the moment as I dislike the sensation so much when I close my eyes and some of my dreams are a bit bonkers! I've just been trying to watch things on my tablet when I'm in bed to try to trick my brain into falling asleep without noticing.
The other difficulty I've had is that I'm finding it quite difficult to sleep. This is partly my own doing though. For the last few years I've slept on the left (side which has just had the implant) and worn a hearing aid throughout the night in the right ear. Possibly the worst audiologist ever?! Professionally I certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone else to sleep with their hearing aid in. It's not good for the health of the ear at all. However, it's something that I've done for many years and am now unable to sleep without having my hearing aid in. My brain goes into 'fight or flight mode' and I'm wide awake with adrenaline as soon as I turn it off! This means I need to try and sleep on my back - not going great at the moment but I'm sure it will get easier the more tired I get! By the end of the day my balance is certainly getting worse as well - again - this is something to expect. All people with problems with their balance tend to notice a deterioration as they get more tired - simply because their brain has been trying to compensate for it throughout the day and is getting worn out.
